CMC had its first ever sustainability conference. It was held at the Steamboat Campus. Watch the video for more info!
The Real Food Challenge leverages the power of youth and universities to create a healthy, fair and green food system.
The primary campaign is to shift $1 billion of existing university food budgets away from industrial farms and junk food and towards local/community-based, fair, ecologically sound and humane food sources—what could be called “real food”—by 2020.
During the first annual Sustainability Conference held in Steamboat, CMC Steamboat campus president Peter Perhac signed the 20% commitment. CMC Steamboat was the first community college in the nation to sign the commitment.

The Crystal Observatory will be open for four more days on the CMC campus in Steamboat Springs on Feb. 6, 7, 8 and 9, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Tickets must be purchased on nights when the observatory is open, at the ticket table located on the second level of CMC’s new academic and student services building, where tour guides will lead visitors to the observatory grounds.
Tickets are $10 per person, with all proceeds going to support the CMC Sky Club. Kids under six and students with a valid CMC ID get in for free. Appropriate winter footwear is advised.

Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs has a lot going on with the Sustainability Program and the Cullinary Program. Last Routt County Roots Episode we saw how that relationship worked in a community stetting. This episode we see how that relationship works in a college setting regarding the development of CMC’s Bear River Greenhouse Project.
