The Crystal Observatory will be open for four more days on the CMC campus in Steamboat Springs on Feb. 6, 7, 8 and 9, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Tickets must be purchased on nights when the observatory is open, at the ticket table located on the second level of CMC’s new academic and student services building, where tour guides will lead visitors to the observatory grounds.
Tickets are $10 per person, with all proceeds going to support the CMC Sky Club. Kids under six and students with a valid CMC ID get in for free. Appropriate winter footwear is advised.

Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs has a lot going on with the Sustainability Program and the Cullinary Program. Last Routt County Roots Episode we saw how that relationship worked in a community stetting. This episode we see how that relationship works in a college setting regarding the development of CMC’s Bear River Greenhouse Project.

I was lucky enough to be part of an amazing collaborative event between some major players in the Steamboat community and this video sums up how CMC is already taking its new degrees to new frontiers. The following video is called “Yampa Valley Roots – Episode 2″ and its here to change the world.

Once a year, the Perseids descend upon our planet and put on a lovely show for those with a dark enough sky to enjoy it.
This year, myself and my friend Gabriel T Rogers spent three days sleeping the woods chasing the most amazing angles of the meteor shower.

I ran into a CMC student (Yampa Valley College at the time) from the 1960′s and he was kind enough to let me interview him! This was right before the infamous Diamond Hitch Parade.
